The Guill Wedding

Couple: Tyler and Sara Guill

Wedding Date: May 14, 2016

Location: Historic Beaver Dam, Davidson, NC

The Wedding Dress: Lillian West, style 6375

Photography: Boonetown Story

More Details: I feel like every bride thinks they had the most amazing wedding. I certainly do. I wanted to have a romantic wedding, where everyone was comfortable and having fun. I wanted an “organic” feel to our day. I didn’t want anything to be too matchy-matchy. My bridesmaids all wore different dresses that were varying shades of pink/nude. I let them pick their own dresses because I wanted them to show their own personal style.

My wedding dress was from New York Bride & Groom. It was a Lillian West and was the second dress I tried on. Every one after it was just anticlimactic. I probably only tried on a total of 8 or 9. I knew that I wanted the Lillian West dress. The detachable tulle skirt, which was romantic and airy, was totally my style. And the fact that the skirt was detachable made it perfect for the reception. When the party started, I took it off and had the more fitted, fun flirty dress underneath. I basically got two dresses in one.

For the ceremony, I wore a beautiful cathedral-length veil. When we had our first kiss it fell off and everyone laughed. A lot of brides would have been mortified, but I actually enjoyed it. It lightened the mood and made things more spontaneous and less “perfect.”

My wedding photographer Nicole was a dream, and captured moments that I wouldn’t have remembered without her. The weather was perfect — just like the entire day was too. I want to relive it again (which is probably why I watch our wedding video way too much — LOL).

The Hirst Wedding

Couple: Trevor and Jordan Hirst

Wedding Date: November 14, 2015

Location: The Alexander Homestead, Charlotte, NC

The Wedding Dress: Allure Bridal, style 2716

Photography: White Door Productions

More Details: Working with The Alexander Homestead was so easy and carefree because they did basically everything for us, all we had to do was show up! Which made planning from 3,000 miles away, since we’re stationed in Northern California, a breeze. We were also super lucky because for weeks leading up to our big day Charlotte experienced some serious rainfall but those Carolina Blue skies came through and there wasn’t a bit of rain in sight.

Being a military couple our wedding day was something we will truly treasure forever. While it was special in every way that a wedding should be, Trevor had just gotten home from a 6-month deployment in Kuwait and it was also the first time in a couple years that we had been able to go home and see our friends and family. Our day was flawless and filled with so much love and laughter we couldn’t have asked for anything more.

My gown was Allure Bridal, style # 2716. Being incredibly indecisive, I was sure I’d need years to find my perfect dress. I tried on a lot and had many ideas of exactly what I did and didn’t want. While many of them were very pretty on me, they weren’t “the one.” It came down to a sweetheart mermaid lace style and the Allure dress, which made choosing even harder because they were so different.

I must have tried my dress one at least five times, but it wasn’t until my mom asked me to walk around the salon and then sit down on the pedestal that I knew. It couldn’t have been more perfect or more comfortable. I didn’t have to worry about bustling a train or not being able to sit comfortably, or fear that it might slip down too far and expose “the girls” while busting a move on the dance floor. The dress, which I paired with an embellished belt, was simple yet detailed enough that I didn’t need an extravagant veil or to add many accessories. I never felt more beautiful!

The Hoffman Wedding

Couple: Adam and Margaret Hoffman

Wedding Date: May 29, 2014

Location: Middleton Place, Charleston, SC

The Wedding Dress: Allure Bridal, style 2600

Photography: Eric Boneske

More Details: Having an intimate, family-only wedding was a no-brainer for us. We love Charleston, and knew it would be a perfect setting for the luxury 9-person outdoor plantation wedding of our dreams. We had no vendors, no stress and no budget, and our wedding was absolutely to die for. The day was flawless, even though I was 2 hours late to my own wedding (true story). What made it beyond special was marrying the love of my life under the swaying Spanish moss, surrounded by only the most important people in our lives: family.

For my wedding dress, I wanted something classic, dripping in lace and timelessly elegant. I also wanted it to be sexy, well-fitting and feature no bling. I fell head-over-heels in love with my fitted Allure ivory lace dress with its high neckline and sexy low back. It was the perfect combination of everything I wanted, and the alterations were flawless.

NYB&G Charlotte: Easy Online Ordering for Bridesmaid Dresses

New York Bride & Groom excels because we continually strive to maximize our customer service. Part of this commitment is ease of use, the guiding principle behind our online ordering for bridesmaid dresses. As the bride, you can feel confident that your out-of-town maids will enjoy a simple, streamlined process and that we will manage every detail once the order has been received.

Dress Shopping Should Be Fun

At NYB&G, we firmly believe that selecting your wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses and tuxedos for the men should be a festive experience. After all, securing attire for every member of your bridal party is a milestone to celebrate. We want you to achieve your style goals without breaking the bank, which is why we offer “inspired designs at popular pricing” — another cornerstone of our business philosophy.

Bill Levkoff Bridesmaids, style 1253 – Antique lace sweetheart gown with an illusion top trimmed in lace. Satin band with a rhinestone pin. Fitted mermaid style skirt.

Honesty is the Best Policy

Our knowledgeable staff of consultants can be the most helpful when we have honest feedback to work with. Bridesmaid dresses come with lots of options. We want to help you discover the best perfect style to fulfill your vision for your bridal party and your special day. To accomplish this, we need to know what you like and don’t like about the garments you’re seeing.

Things To Remember When Shopping

We know how exciting and almost overwhelming dress shopping can be. The multitude of details and options to be considered can make anyone’s head spin. To keep from becoming totally stressed out, we suggest that you let photos do some of the work for you. Here at NYB&G we encourage picture taking, so capture your favorite dresses from every angle to consider later. This will take the pressure off of your visit and help you and your girls decide after you’ve had some time to reflect.

Alfred Sung Bridesmaid, style D709 – Mid-length sleeveless peau de soie dress with bateau neckline, V back and graduated bow detail. Pleated skirt has subtle hi-low hemline and side seam pockets.

Here are some more tips that will help you with your dress shopping.

  • Undergarments can drastically change the look of a dress. You already know that wearing a strapless bra or a regular one with clear straps is non-negotiable. Even so, I’d recommend getting your measurements taken before you start this process, especially if you’ve lost weight recently, like I did. When I tried on the winning dress for the very first time, my bust looked…off. The culprit: Undergarments one cup size too small and three inches too big around the waist. Armed with my correct size, I slipped on the dress again—it’s amazing what a difference a few inches can make.
  • Wear just enough makeup to feel pretty — don’t go overboard. Being surrounded by a billowing sea of white fabric makes you hyper-aware of your appearance. Under-eye circles that were barely noticeable before look stark. Pale pink lipstick is drowned out by fluorescent lighting. You don’t have to get dolled up for your consultant; apply just enough so that you feel presentable. But whatever you do, DON’T apply self-tanner in the days leading up to your appointment, in order to avoid damaging any of the dresses. Also wear your hair the way you’ve planned it for the wedding.
  • Consultants can’t stand when you “yes” them to death. They can’t assist you properly if you don’t tell them how you really feel. “It’s beautiful,” I murmured, after stepping into each dress or pulling it over my head. Unaware that I was saying this for Each And Every Gown, Andrea eventually called me out on it: “I’m not the designer; you won’t hurt my feelings, you know.” Ten “nos” (including the Lazaro style pictured above) helped me get to my final “yes.” Also consultants rarely outright told me to take something off, so when they did, I knew they were being truthful. If they use the words “we can do better,” you’ll know. More details at Bridal Guide

With more than 15,000 square feet of modern luxury, New York Bride & Groom is unquestionably the premier bridal shop in Charlotte and the surrounding metro region.
