Different shapes or fabrics that don’t transition smoothly can visually cut the body in unflattering ways,” explains Hall. “It doesn’t mean the whole gown has to be the same fabric, but make sure each section segues fluidly and flows together.”

Don’t: Go for flimsy fabrics

Avoid thin fabrics such as silk charmeuse or chiffon, which just skim the body and can magnify every little detail, says Hall. But other than that, feel free to go for anything: “Taffeta, organza, lace, and duchess satin are all very flattering for plus-size brides.”

Do: Choose something that reflects your personality

“If there’s ever a time that a bride has to wear something that she loves when it comes to fashion, it should be on her wedding day,” encourages Hall. “Every shape, embellishment, and detail comes in plus size, so if you want to have ruffles, bows, flowers, or beading — go for it!” The only rule to keep in mind? Look for something that’s asymmetrical, which is not only more flattering, but more artistic as well.

More Details: Clark and I have family who live all over the U.S., so deciding where to have a wedding was more difficult than agreeing to get married. After much consideration, we were wed on Monday, January 23rd at 3:30pm in a small chapel onboard the Caribbean Princess. Twenty-three of our closest family members embarked on the week-long cruise and took part in our wedding experience. The day of our wedding was an unusually rough day at sea with winds up to 45 knots causing 15-foot waves! I can’t say I did not get sick in my wedding dress; however, I can say that the dress remained in perfect ivory condition thanks to the help of my wonderful husband and family. Although the day was nothing like we had imagined, it was even better. The evening ended with a private reception in the Skywalker Nightclub where we danced the night away. In all, it was a memory neither of us will ever forget!

As for my wedding gown, like you see on TV the moment I put on the dress, I gasped. I knew it was the right one by the way it hugged my curves and made me feel beautiful. I adored all the lace details, and the buttons on the back made the dress so classy looking. It was definitely the talk of the formal evening onboard the ship that night. I had people coming up to me all week expressing how much they loved my dress.

More Details: We had a simple, yet elegant theme for our big day. Our venue was beautifully decorated already, so we simply added a little of our color to make it ours. We had about 120 guests comprised of family and close friends, which kept the good times going all night. We had a great DJ who helped surprise me during one dance. My groom and a few of his friends sat me in a chair in the middle of the floor. The song “Lovers and Friends” started playing and our friends sang to me while my husband took my garter off. Everyone was dying laughing and it seemed to be the highlight of the reception. Our photographer could not have been better, and there truly is no value you could put on her and her work that would be enough. She was the first to arrive and the last to leave, and was everywhere at once. We also set up had a candy bar, vintage soda bottles, a photo booth, and a caricature artist for a simple kind of fun for everyone. We ended with a send off that was unforgettable — walking past all of our friends and family feeling their love and support. It was truly a perfect night!

I fell in love with my wedding dress the minute I put it on. The sweetheart neckline and embellished top were exactly what I was looking for. The tulle skirt was simple, but that’s what I loved about it. I paired the dress with a simple cathedral veil. Together, they made me feel like a princess. The way I always imagined I would feel on my wedding day.
